We're going to Wembley. Que Sera Sera. |
|
On Saturday 269th April, 65 Croxley Guild YFC members made their way to Wembley to watch the England v Scotland Schools International. England won the game 2-0. Everyone enjoyed the day and celebrated England’s win with a Mexican wave! For most this was their first visit to the new Wembley and they thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.

Yellows Cup winning exploits and Jags League success |
|
The U9 Yellows managed by Trevor Pardoe and Dave Taylor achieved a fantastic double by reaching the finals of the Watford Friendly League Challenge Cup and League Cup. 4th May they took on Borehamwood 2000 in the League Cup final and despite a spirited second half performance were unfortunately beaten 3-1. May 11th saw them reap reward for their efforts as they lifted the Challenge Cup. After extra time the teams were locked at 1-1 but Harvesters North were finally beaten in a tense and exciting penalty shoot-out. Meanwhile Martin, Paul, and the under 12 Jaguars have shown their teeth and finished runners up in the White Division. Well done lads but now the hard work begins. |

Who is turning the beautiful game ugly? |
|
With thanks to David Harrison of The Daily Telegraph for his article reproduced below. Unfortunately,
the incidence of inappropriate, and sometimes appalling, behaviour in youth football is on the increase
across the country. We at Croxley Guild YFC will continue to promote excellence in our approach to
our responsibilities, especially with respect to good conduct.
It's 1-1 with less than 10 minutes to go and, on a small-sized football pitch in
Surrey, two teams of nine-year-old boys are playing their muddy socks off. About
20 parents, split into two separate camps, are cheering them on from the
touchline. It's an open game and it could go either way.
