On 4 minutes the Yellows doubled their lead, when Lewis’ drop-kick was won by Harry and he laid the ball on to Seb who passed the ball to Will on the right edge of the Reds’ penalty area – Will’s shot was parried and Liam was on hand to tap the rebound in for 2v0. Max crossed from the right to Liam on the left hand corner of the Reds' penalty area and he went on to fire a powerful low shot in at the near post 5v0. Seb went close just before the break when his attempt went into the side netting on the right hand side of the goal. It was a convincing first half display by the Yellows. H-T 5v0
On 37 minutes Captain Dan won the ball out on the right and slotted a pass to Bas who shrugged off a challenge and fired a shot into the top right hand corner of the net 6v0. Dan T’s throw- in from the right found its way to Liam and he beat one defender before firing a low left foot drive into the bottom left hand-corner for his hatrick 7v0. The Reds never stopped competing, but on 48 minutes David won the ball on the left and played a nice ball for Oli’s well-timed run and he scored within the Reds’ penalty area with a shot to the left had side of the goal 8v0. On 50 minutes the Reds forced a parry by Lewis which was returned goal-bound, but Max made a headed clearance off the line – the loose ball was collected on the right and ended in the back of the net 8v1. Oli won the ball in midfield and passed to Bas who beat the Reds’ defence and rounded the keeper to score 9v1. The Reds narrowed the winning margin with two late goals. F-T 9v3.
The Yellows are enjoying a rich vein of form at the moment – today they created a great deal of chances scoring a good percentage of them! To their credit the Reds never gave up and were rewarded for their efforts with 3 goals, which highlights the need for the boys to concentrate for the full 60 minutes. Let’s take nothing away from the boys’ performance today - they controlled the majority of the play and were superb at times. |
